Have you heard of Kickstarter? If not, I’m glad you are reading this blog post because it can be a great resource to help you fund some of your food projects as a culinary business owner!

Kickstarter is an international platform that uses crowd sourcing to help fund a variety of creative projects in a certain amount of time. There are many culinary businesses and foodies that use this platform to help them cover the costs of starting a business or pay for packaging, etc. It helps you connect with people who care about your project and come together to help other entrepreneurs and creative minds.

I have never personally used it, but I have known some chefs who did and it was a great experience for them!

Kickstarter backers have helped raise over $2 billion for over 100,000 projects. More specifically Kickstarter has helped fund over 4,000 food projects including pledging money for cookbooks, cooking gadgets, farmer’s markets, restaurants, bakeries, food trucks, etc.

I set out to find an expert who could tell me more about how culinary business owners could use this platform. That’s when I found Terry Romero who is the author and co-author of bestselling cookbooks like Vegan Viva, Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World, and Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar, etc. She is a huge proponent of  Kickstarter as she has helped fund quite a bit of projects herself.
